Zisatag
September 27, 2026 | 5pm
Due to time and budgetary constraints, Zisatag will not be a public holiday this year.
Zisa is the goddess of victory and the wife of Ziu, who bravely gave his good right hand to the wolf. She saved the city of Augsburg from Roman invasion and is worshipped there as the Red Lady.
Zisa's symbol is the pinecone, which represents community and protection. We decorate with pinecones and give them as offerings on this holiday. Write your prayers and wishes on a scrap of paper or ribbon and tuck them into a pinecone as an offering. We decorate our hall with red and gold, Zisa's colors. We also try to wear red and gold to honor her. Historically, statues of Zisa in Augsburg would have been draped in fresh red and gold raiments during her festival.
